Please join us on February 13th as Mark Eisner of Advanced Land and Water, Inc., will be sharing information about the interrelationship of land planning, environmental permitting and growth control efforts as it relates to Taylorsville and more broadly, Carroll County and other suburban areas outside existing water and sewer areas. Hopefully he will address the pending growth/septic legislation as well. Mark will be presenting these ideas with a historical perspective.
GTACC will also be holding a food drive for the benefit of the Mt. Airy Net food program. In recogintion of Valentine's day bring your contribution to help "Feed The Heart" !!
Solid Waste Forum
This from our Friend Don West at Wastenotcarroll
The much anticipated Solid Waste Forum hosted by the Carroll County Board of Commissioners to discuss our continued role with Frederick County in the WTE Incinerator AND alternative means and strategies for handling our municipal solid waste will be on Tuesday, February 28th, starting at 7 pm in the K building (the 'new' one), Room 100, Carroll Community College, 1601 Washington Road, Westminster, MD. More details to follow as they are announced.
Election Time!
GTACC would also like to remind you that annual board elections occur during the February meeting. Membership runs from January 1st through December 31st. As per Bylaws Article 3, Number 3, in order to vote, members must be in good standing 30 days prior.
Open house and Food drive
We would like to thank Commissioner Rothschild for being our special guest for our annual open and food drive. As usual he was straight forward and very informative. He gave us updates on the WTE incinerater, as well as Plan Maryland and property rights. We would also like to thank those who brought a food item to help support Mt. Airy NET the area's local food pantry. Good speaker + good refreshments + good people = good meeting!
Adopt-a-Highway (See the story in the CC Times)
GTACC would also like to thank the many volunteers who participated in the Adopt-a-Highway clean up day on Saturday October 22nd. In keeping our rural community beautiful, citizens took a couple of hours out of their busy lives to clean a one-mile stretch of Liberty Road from the intersection in Taylorsville to the Frederick County line. GTACC will be conducting these worthy clean up events several times a year. Next Clean up is scheduled for April 21 2012. We'll keep you posted as it gets close.
Time Well Spent
For those of you who were able to attend Monday eve's (Oct 10) meeting it was time well spent. We would like to thank Don West of Waste Not Carroll for coming out and giving everyone an update on where we (Carroll County) are regarding the contentious WTE incinerator issue. The issue seems to have cooled off a bit since the election but its not over by a mile.
Speaking of Incinerators and Money...
Here is an interesting article. This should give us all a little bit more to think aboutregarding our incinerator issue
THANK YOU!
All the members of GTACC would like to express our thanks to all our supporters, neighbors, and friends who stopped by our booth at the Winfield Carnival this past July. We talked to alot of people and gained a lot of interesting insight into what people have to think and say about our area.
